1. AFFECTED PARTIES
All Environment, Health and Safety personnel
2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to describe the EHS Training requirements for personnel at the GMP plant.
3. SCOPE
The requirements outlines in this procedure are to be completed by all colleagues at the GMP site. Where specifically stated, some of the requirements in this procedure are to be completed by all personnel on site including:
Non Manufacturing Operation colleagues
Casual and Temporary Contractors
4. RESPONSIBILITY \ BUSINESS RULES
It is responsibility of the EHS Manager or delegates to identify training needs for each employee group based on their job functions. This will form the basis of the training matrix.
It is responsibility of training coordinator to develop an annual training schedule based on training matrix.
It is the responsibility of the EHS Coordinator to ensure the required training is completed as scheduled.
The area mangers and Team Leaders have the responsibility to ensure that colleagues in their area complete all training as identified in the training matrix.
5. PROCEDURE
5.1.1 Manufacturing Site Colleagues
All colleagues are required to undergo EHS Induction training upon starting of work. This training aims to provide basic understanding of EHS concepts. The induction program is computer based on-line-site-specific training, which includes:
Introduction to EHS Policy and concepts
Emergency Response plan & Procedures
Incident / Accident Reporting
Spill Response procedures
First Aid procedures
Use of personal protective equipment
All colleagues are required to undergo EHS refresher training once a year or as required. This training aims to provide continued learning in EHS.
The Department Managers / Team Leaders in conjunction with EHS department shall develop specific training requirement for their department which may include:
Use of personal protective equipment & respiratory protection
Manual Handling
Forklift Refresher
Hearing conservation
Compressed gases / Dangerous goods
The Department Managers / Team Leaders in conjunction with EHS department shall develop specific job function training requirements and certification program which may include:
Confined space entry
Hot work
Forklift training for licenses
First Aid certification
Advanced Resuscitation
EHS Committee training
5.1.2 Non Manufacturing Operation Colleagues
Non Manufacturing Operation colleagues are required to undergo Emergency Response procedure and Incident / Accident Reporting procedure.
5.1.3 Casual and Temporary Contractors
Casual and Temporary Contractors including cleaning staff, canteen staff and security are required to undergo EHS Induction, Emergency Response Procedure, Incident / Accident Reporting and specific training as required according to their job functions.
5.2 Identification of Training
The EHS Department with area manager and team leader shall identify training and awareness needs in reference to position description requirements at the time of employment of a colleague. This will include consideration of any applicable changes in duties, legislation, technology and risk assessments of activities performed by the staff. In addition all staff, whose work may create a significant impact upon the environment, shall receive appropriate training. Other training may be identified through:
Departmental requests for specific and general training needs
Identification of hazards in any particular area
5.3 Attendance
The area manager is responsible for ensuring that their colleagues attend scheduled EHS Training sessions. Absenteeism shall be addressed via the normal performance counselling procedure.
The training department is responsible for maintaining attendance for all EHS training sessions.
All colleagues shall sign an attendance list upon completion of the EHS session. Details of this record are entered in the site Training Management System, a training record system maintained by the Training Department. The hardcopy attendance sheet is then filed and retained.
5.4 Assessment & Review
An assessment is completed to verify the colleague’s understanding of the material presented. This may include any or all of the assessment techniques including written, verbal feedback and / or discussion during the presentation, computer based, case studies, workshop, or demonstration.
5.5 Documentation
All training requirements and the frequency of training are documented in EHS Training Matrix. The EHS Training Matrix is accessible to colleagues.
